You learn so much from reality television. Do you know there is a Miss White Trash contest held every year?
That and other wisdom was gained by watching Split Ends on the Style Network.
The series premiered on April 5 (my bad), but never fear, this is cable television, the re-runs will play….and play… and play…. Apparently, only four shows were ordered for this season, so it’s not much of a season. Undaunted, Haireality will carry on.
The protagonists in this episode are Mary Lamb, of High Tech Hair in Philadelphia, and Susan Summers of Kalama, Washington.
The Style Network pr reads:
How will a small-town hairstylist react when thrown into a salon filled with self-empowered women who practice the latest techniques in hair care?
For a brief video, go to http://haireality.blogspot.com/
How indeed. The small time hairstylist isn’t really a hairstylist, but rather a barber who sells junk she calls “antiques”. Her shop is very ugly, looks dirty, and resembles no beauty salon at all. Susan is one of those women who would be good looking if she actually did something about her own hair. It is curly, long, and streaked trashy blonde. As a perfect complement to this scenario, Amberleigh works as Susan’s unlicensed assistant. Amberleigh was Miss White Trash in a previous year, and it really paid off, as she is now about 8 months pregnant.
Into this scenario Mary Lamb arrives. Mary Lamb is a well-coifed, highly styled big city woman in killer heels.
Her first and only customer is a guy needing handlebars in his beard.
Susan, on the other hand, is learning the ropes in Philadelphia. She stands out quite a bit in her jeans, flats and terrible hair at the salon. She does ok with her first client, and is told about the “dress code” for her second day. The women at High Tech Salon are really helpful and nice to her, as opposed to Amber in Kalama, who doesn’t have manners or common courtesy.
Amber reminds Haireality of the fat girls hating on thin women, just jealousy. The women in Philadelphia try to give Susan a makeover, and even take her out on the town with a blind date.
In the end, both women are happy to return home.

Oooh, this was crazy wild to see. First off, I live outside of Philly, so it was cool to see this one. Okay, Miss White Trash girl was just mean and lazy.
The stylists were fun to watch, but pregnant girl…man, she was out of place and so unfair to Mary.
Cheers, Deb from TwoDogZoo.com

The saddest part was that Amber had her HAIRDRESSER going to lamaze classes with her – where is the baby daddy? How sad!
